What Is a Micro Credit?

A. Micro Credits = Learning on Demand
Micro Credits are adaptable to industry-changing needs because there is such a rapid turnaround. In the past it took students 15 weeks just to earn 3 credit hours. Micro Credits enable you to be trained in the fundamental areas of concentration you need to gain a comfort-level in just 20 hours.

What is a Badge?

A. Badge is a recognition of your completion of a module. It is smaller than a certificate but can still be listed on a resume.

When will the Rapid Certification courses begin?

A. OASiS is planning to offer Rapid Certification program in semiconductors starting Jan 9th, 2023.

Is the Rapid Certification for credit?

A. No, this is a non-credit certificate. It is comprised of both online and in-person modules.

How are modules different than courses?

A. The modules are fewer than 3-credit courses. The Rapid Certification Course is a connected series of modules. If a student chooses to only complete one module, that student will earn a badge.

What college or university is awarding my certificate?

A. The Rapid Certification program is a joint effort between University of Cincinnati, University of Dayton, Wright State University, Miami University, Cincinnati State and Sinclair community colleges. You choose your home institution, and it awards your certification via Credly / LinkedIn.

What background do I need to apply?
A. The goal of this course is to teach the very basic, introductory fundamentals of working in a clean room. Consequently, no experience with a clean room is required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree courses in STEM or related work experience is encouraged but not required.

How do I enroll?

Can I apply if I live out of state?

A. Yes, but there is an in-person element to the Rapid Certification. You will also need to be a registered student at one of the partner universities / colleges.

Although the course is free, is there an incentive grant available to assist with transportation, etc.?

A. Yes, up to 20 students from each partner instiution (please see map) can receive a one-time grant of $300 after successful completion of Rapid Certification program in semiconductors offered by OASiS.

How am I eligible for a scholarship?

A. The students qualified for scholarship will be recommended by the home institution of the student. To apply, please click here*. Women and students from under-represented minorities are encouraged to apply.
Key criteria that will be considered are:

  • GPA > 3.3
  • Financial hardships
  • Interest in joining semiconductor workforce at Intel Ohio
